Women and Blogging

Hello and Welcome to the Women and Web 2.0 Technology with Emphasis on Blogging!

This lesson has been introduced so the participants will each create their own blog web site to post their experiences from the beginning of this online class. I hope this will be a fun learning experience for all. I have uploaded a picture for the class from one of my presetations. This is from my visit to Bangladesh, my native country, on Januay 2009. The was a presentation on Online Teaching and Learning at the Presidency College sponsored by the Bangladesh English Language and Teaching Association (BELTA). One of my topics of presentation was also how women in third world country can connect with each other through blogging and its impact on enhancing reading and writing skills.

  2. Hi Nasreen,

Blogging seems like it will be pretty easy and fun. I'm already feeling a bit more techno confident.

  3. Hi,
March 12, Women’s History Day, was a great day. We had an opportunity to interact with Dr.Natalie Batalha and Susmita Bhatacharya, two top women in technology. The interesting thing to note was that both of them pursued their studies in art discipline, acquired graduation and had a definitely shaped career. At that point (after the prime time),it was not easy to switch to technology. But they did. In case of Natalie, her husband encouraged her to advance in technology, where as,Susmita Bhatachrya had the spark which was fanned by her mentor. They told us,"things just don’t happen if you just wish." One has to go through tremendous ordeal, and follow strict discipline.Sushmita gave us some important tips like 4Ds ( Decision, Determination, Devotion and Discipline)and Ideals which helped her succeed in her mission. They also pointed out that some role model is also important to kindle the spark. The panelist, Nasreen Rahim is another startling example, who would have continued teaching ESL classes if she was not inspired by role model like Arpita Mishra. Today she is not just herself in technology but pushing masses of women into technology! May God help her in the sublime and noble mission.
