100 Years of International Women's Day

In the honor of the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day in Liberia, executive director Michelle Bachelet discussed her plans for the new organization, the challenges facing women in Libya and Cote D’Ivoire, and why she thinks women and girls need to stay on top of the international agenda.

UN Foundation CEO Kathy Calvin hosted the call, and she was joined by the executive director of the UN Foundation’s women and population program, Tamara Kreinin. The catch? They spoke at the press conference from Monrovia, Liberia where Ms. Bachelet is celebrating International Women’s Day to show solidarity with Africa’s first and only female head of state Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
